Solution Energy’s FGC Technology:
A New Path To Scale Geothermal Power

Solution Energy’s (FGC) technology converts suspended wells into multi-MW, 20 year geothermal power generators. By eliminating new well drilling costs and leveraging existing but underutilized plant capacity FGC unlocks some of the fastest and cheapest renewable baseload power in the industry.

What is FGC Technology?

FGC is a novel combination of two proven technologies. The first is a proprietary downhole heat exchanger (leveraging 3D printing innovations pioneered in the aerospace industry) and the second is a high temperature Electric Submersible Pump (developed by oil field giants such as SLB to move subsurface fluids in geothermal and hydrocarbon settings).

By combining these two proven technologies to create an entirely new downhole system the FGC technology unlocks power from suspended or underperforming wells and makes geothermal power commercially attractive in locations where it otherwise would not be.

Field Trials: Proving FGC's Game-Changing Potential

Our lab test results and upcoming field trials are to validate FGC’s ability to:

  • Produce Power From Suspended Wells: Produce and sustain MW’s of power from non-productive wells
  • Deliver Fast Power: Achieve rapid deployment by using existing non-productive wells and infrastructure to ‘host’ the FGC system slashing project timelines to months.
  • Scale Cost-Effectively: Leverage existing unutilized plant power generation capacity to deliver low LCOE power from already depreciated assets and drive widespread adoption.

By focusing first on existing geothermal fields, FGC units can potentially be deployed in 100’s or even thousands of non productive geothermal wells unlocking GW’s of baseload power.

Successful FGC trials could transform geothermal energy by:

1. Reviving Non-Productive Wells
  • Geothermal Well Reuse: Restore underperforming geothermal wells, reducing costs and boosting output in fields with existing infrastructure.

  • Fast Deployment: Deliver power in months using existing wells, supporting grids with reliable, 24/7 zero emission energy
  • Global Impact: Enable drilling-free geothermal in regions with dormant wells, complementing intermittent renewables.
3. Broader Applications
  • Greenfield Development: Expand geothermal to non-traditional regions with moderate-temperature resources.
  • Industrial Cooling: Utilize FGC’s heat exchanger for efficient waste heat management in industrial processes.

The Future of Geothermal with FGC

Independent laboratory testing has already validated that the FGC is 8x more efficient than conventional closed-loop systems. In some settings, the technology has the potential to restore the initial well productivity with minimal parasitic load. If these results are confirmed during our upcoming field trial campaign, Solution Energy in partnership with well owners and oil-field service partners plans to roll the technology across thousands of “suspended” wells, targeting multiple gigawatts of green baseload output within the coming decade. Converting stranded subsurface infrastructure rather than abandoning it stands to deliver one of the lowest-cost, fastest-to-market renewable baseload options available anywhere in the world.
